I have a bachelor's degree in Medical technology with a concentration in microbiology and a master's degree in Healthcare Management. I have been at University Hospital since 1989 and have seen the logo change 3 times and 6 campus presidents. I supervised the Hematology laboratory since 1993. I have been involved as an active engaged member of UUP since 1991. My focus has always been on the rights and treatment of our members. I strongly believe in the team approach and solicit the team's opinion in matters that will affect our membership. I believe the team I have assembled to support the chapter has the skills to advocate effectively for our membership regardless of category, academic or professional, this is particularly important regarding our academic members. The employment conditions of our GFT members need to be closely monitored and the administration needs to understand they are not private employees. They have to abide by the UUP collective bargaining agreement. Over the past term, I have pushed for the rights of our advanced practice providers as injustices get brought out into the light of day.
The team is comprised of vastly experienced members as well as newer members to build for the future. It is important to train the leaders of tomorrow in the best practices of UUP. Educate them on how to navigate the administration utilizing the tools and resources available to us in UUP. The statewide involvement and relationships are crucial to making gains we can't do alone. I did not acquire my knowledge overnight. And I would encourage you to ask any candidate what have you done for the professionals or academics as a group. Ask them how much experience they have. I have ensured that each gets equal representation and that their rights are protected.
My team and I will engage all categories of Membership. We will fight for our rights under the current contract and in the next contract negotiations. We had several victories in the last round and we need to continue. I have heard the voices of those on call and it is on the radar. What Cannot not be done locally will be relentlessly pursued statewide.
In my time with UUP, I have negotiated many wins for the membership. In many cases, it has resulted in money in their pocket or a saved job. I regularly push back against contractual violations and harassment. I have listed a few of my significant accomplishments below:
This is only in the last 2 years. Even before I was elected as an officer, I was engaged in member advocacy and support. From day one my focus was on the success of our members and the creation of fair, accurate performance programs for professionals and outreach to academic members through workshops and other events. I have a proven record of success. Is there more to do, yes! Absolutely. To that, I say bring it on!

I completed my PhD at the University of British Columbia in 1994 and, after 2 postdoctoral fellowships, joined the faculty in the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine in 2000. I signed the UUP membership card during my first week of employment after reading about the union and the services and benefits the union provides to SUNY faculty. I have been a chapter delegate since 2009 and am completing my third term as chapter Vice President for Academics. Since becoming a delegate, I have attended every delegate assembly to amplify our chapter’s voice in the statewide UUP. I am an active member of the statewide Grievance, Future of Public Higher Education, and the Academic Medical Programs committees. Since Bruce Kube was elected chapter president, I have worked closely with him on ensuring our academic members problems and concerns are solved. He is an excellent chapter
president who works tirelessly to represent our chapter members. I am a proud member of Team Kube! I thank you for your continued support
My name is Adam Riddick. I am a twenty-plus-year employee of SUNY Stonybrook and a proud union member for as many years. My career in state service began at Stonybrook University Medical Center. My union activism began in the same place. I knew the importance of having a union before I began working for Stonybrook but it was at Stonybrook that I developed a passion for activism. In 2004 shortly after my arrival, there was a protest on Nichols Road in front of the hospital. I took my break, got a shirt, and began walking the line. It was such a good feeling displaying my union pride, standing with my union brothers and sisters, and chanting in unison. I continued throughout my years to support by union in whatever way called upon. After a change in union leadership that left me feeling unsupported, I decided to run for office in 2017. I was elected to my first term as a vice president of CSEA Local 614 Stonybrook, something I am still very proud of to this day. I have held the office of Vice President, Executive Vice President, and Treasurer. In these roles, I became familiar with the ins and outs of unionism and Employee Labor Relations both at the Stonybrook level and the State level. I have represented members during interrogations, grievances, and probation termination hearings for over seven years. I have represented my local in Employee/Management meetings as well as representing all Stonybrook Employees through a coalition formed to combat the parking crisis. I have developed relationships with fellow union members and leaders across contract lines. It has been my pleasure to serve as an officer in the union that represented and served me and now that I am represented by UUP it will be a pleasure to serve my brothers and sisters in UUP in the same fashion.
Dear Fellow UUP Members:
I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and I started my career working at a group home for juveniles in the court system. After that, I moved on to work for 13 years with developmentally disabled individuals. Both jobs required a dedication to helping and advocating for the best course and care for each individual I served.
My parents' examples taught me firsthand how important it is to advocate for people. My father is a retired Marine Colonel who served as the Vice President of his National Union, the Airline Pilots Association, and as Chair of the Master Executive Council Negotiations Team for his airline. My mother has always been actively involved in the community and continues to volunteer at several charities. I carry that commitment to advocacy over to our union and its members.
I first became involved in UUP HSC about 6 years ago, when Carolyn Kube was President. I was upset about issues in Lot A, bringing them to her attention. Carolyn encouraged me to get involved and I quickly learned that when we want change, we have to put in effort. Once Carolyn moved to her Statewide Vice President position, I began working with Bruce Kube in his role as Chapter President. Bruce has been a great mentor to me and has shown me how important it is to not only know our contracts and bylaws but also develop working relationships with people. His long productive history with SBUH makes him an invaluable asset to our chapter. His Statewide involvement ensures that the Stony Brook HSC Chapter is heard.
In my role as an IDA committee member, I have been grateful to work with our members to ensure that they can be reimbursed for their efforts to enrich their learning and enhance their skills. Through the New Employee Orientation (NEO), I am proud to teach the new hires what their union can do for them and encourage them to get involved. Serving as a Professional Delegate, I can ensure our voices are heard and vote according to what serves our membership well. I have also developed relationships on the Statewide level in my committee work. Each role that I have taken on within the union has helped me advocate from within – and develop a strong team to fight for what we need.
I believe in being honest and having integrity in all that I do. The UUP leadership has an important role in representing over 6,000 members. I have a proven record of getting involved wherever I can and using my skills to help the membership.
Our union is strongest when we are united for a common cause. This cause is the US– all of our membership. We need active union members and can only be stronger in a collective effort.
It is my sincere hope that, at the end of this election, the UUP HSC Chapter wins, with a dedicated elected team that will do the right thing for the right reason all the time. Vote Team Kube! Thank you.
In Solidarity,
I’m running to serve you and help build a better future for all of us. I understand the range of challenges we face in the Health Sciences Center, and I believe our strength lies in working together as one team.
I am committed to listening to your concerns, fighting for fair working conditions, and making sure our voices are heard. My goal is to support every member and work with you to create a workplace where we are respected and valued. I have dedicated my career to advancing patient care and operational excellence, with a strong foundation built at Stony Brook Hospital. Beginning in patient access, I ensured every patient received a warm welcome and seamless scheduling, and later, as a genetic counseling administrative assistant, I supported both patients and counselors through efficient coordination and clear communication. My journey in healthcare is fueled by a passion for service, continuous learning, and a commitment to integrity and collaboration. Beyond my professional roles, I am driven by the belief that every voice matters, and I strive to empower our community through transparent, principled leadership.
Thank you for your support. Let’s work together to make our hospital a better place for everyone.
In solidarity,
I have been a dedicated member of the Stony Brook University community since February 2015. My career at Stony Brook began as a Nursing Station Clerk for the Bone Marrow Transplant unit. In August 2016, I transitioned to the Patient Access Department and became a UUP member. Currently, I work as a Revenue Specialist for the Patient Accounting Department, a position I've held since September 28, 2022.
Since joining UUP, I have taken on various leadership roles:
At the statewide level, I am actively involved in several UUP committees:
Furthermore, I serve as an AFT and NYSUT Affiliate Representative and am a member of NYSUT's Task Force on the Future of Health Care and Health Insurance.
While I originally pursued education to become a chorus teacher, I am currently working towards my bachelor's in business administration. I am utilizing UUP's tuition waiver benefit and plan to complete my degree within the next few years.
I come from a union family and have personally experienced the protection and support that unions provide. This background has shaped my belief that everyone should have a voice. Too many people are silenced by fear, frozen by indifference, and held back by systems that prioritize profit over people. Union work is about breaking those barriers, empowering individuals, and creating a collective voice that demands fairness, respect, and equity in the workplace.
As a union leader, my priority is to amplify the voices of all members, especially our contingent employees. I believe in the power of collective action and the strength that comes from standing together. Just as Stony Brook serves as a safety net hospital, our union must be a safety net for all workers - regardless of their employment status or dues-paying ability.
My vision for UUP is one of inclusivity, and proactive advocacy, a vision I share with the dedicated team I am running with. Together, we are committed to representing and supporting all UUP members at the Stony Brook Health Sciences Center, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. Whether you are a contingent employee or part of our broader academic and professional community, we pledge to bring your concerns to the forefront and fight for a more equitable workplace for everyone. This commitment to unity and fairness is the cornerstone of our approach to union leadership.
I worked at Stony Brook University Hospital from January 1999 until 2022 as a radiation physicist in the radiology department. I retired after 24 years of dedicated service. I have been a UUP Professional Delegate for 23 of those years and continue as a UUP retiree member and delegate after my retirement from the university. I am currently the Officer for Retirees at the Stony Brook Health Sciences Center chapter. I am available and will be available if my fellow UUP members have any questions about retirement benefits. I deeply believe in the union's values and the benefits that the union brings to our members. I feel that the assembled team has the skill, knowledge, and tools to lead the chapter to continued success now and in the future. I am seeking your vote and support in the upcoming UUP elections!
